Customer Rating: Summary: No image when capturing and sound breaks Comment: This card is probably made for Windows XP media Center, it did not work with Win XP Home. When capturing video image disappears and sound breaks using S-video connection. Sound breaks. The disks were not right protected. These discs were used before with another capture card.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Resource Comment: Required reading for a doctorate level class, but a textbook that I enjoyed reading. The writers weave "real world" examples throughout the text that provides the reader with a reference point for the application of theories. There are many visual examples throughout the text that assist the adult learner with understanding the concepts being delivered within each chapter.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good overview of aging and elderly issues Comment: This textbook was required reading for a psychology class that I took on Adult Development and Aging. The text is very easy to read - the material covers all the major topics related to cognition, memory, development, illnesses, relationships, and end of life experiences. It provides a solid look at all of these topics without going too deep. I would recommend the book for anyone with aging parents - it is helpful to get a sense of what they are experiencing in their lives and to understand what role we play in supporting them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Required Reading Comment: Many of you who are considering buying this text are probably doing so for either a regular college course or for one of the Regents College/Excelsior College exams. I decided to earn a second bachelors degree and am working through Excelsior College. This is the required text for one of their exams. I can say that the book is thorough and covers the material that you need to know to pass the test, completely. Like many psyhcology and sociology texts, the subject matter can be dry, but the author seems to do a better than average job of dealing with this. I feel that the fact that I got an 'A' on the exam says very positive things about the text and its ability to prepare you for the testing.

Editorial Reviews:
|
Written within a biopsychosocial framework, Cavanaugh and Blanchard-Fields' best-selling text covers the specific ages-stages of adult development and aging. In its unparalleled coverage of current research and theory, the authors draw clear connections between research and application. The book's focus on "positive aging" and the gains and losses people experience across adulthood distinguish it from its competitors. This edition features more real-world examples and new research trends.
